MAKE MUSIC NOT WAR. fullstop.

FIRST POST OF 2015...and what great way to start it. MAKE MUSIC NOT WAR...just those simple words blew me away. Most of us are aware of the phase, Make Love not War, and have often skipped passed them because we usually associated them with valentine's-day-related-jargon and puppies in a basket  (...or maybe its just me). But when i run into the phrase MAKE MUSIC NOT WAR, an obvious offshoot of afore-mentioned infamous phase, it totally blindsided me. It struck a nerve because it took one thing am passionate about, music, and correlated it with an atrocity. An atrocity i have never had to endure but an atrocity nonetheless. I caught an excerpt of a programme on that topic on #CCTVnews and that captured my full attention, at least for the moment, and after i did what every half-internet savvy layman would do, GOOGLE IT. And like every layman i went to images first, this is how us laymen check whether a story is worth our time:). I run into the usual word-play designs and then i ...

Why you shouldn’t send men shopping! A young guy from West Virginia moves to Florida and goes to a big “everything under one roof” department store looking for a job.  The Manager says, “Do you have any sales experience?” The kid says “Yeah. I was a vacuum salesman back in West Virginia .” Well, the boss was unsure, but he liked the kid and figured he’d give him a shot, so he gave him the job.  “You start tomorrow. I’ll come down after we close and see how you did.” His first day on the job was rough, but he got through it. After the store was locked up, the boss came down to the sales floor. “How many customers bought something from you today?” The kid frowns and looks at the floor and mutters, “One”. The boss says “Just one?!!? Our sales people average sales to 20 to 30 customers a day. That will have to change, and soon, if you’d like to continue your employment here. We have very strict standards for our sales force here in Florida . One sale a day mig...

+Lulu Lumbiwe                             PREFACE Let’s be honest, true stories are boring. But if you add a little spice to the truth, you don’t exactly lie but you come up with a good book.             What you are about to read is not a lie. Well, it’s not the truth either. I’d prefer calling it an interesting version of the truth. I’ve been through a lot of pain and suffering my whole life. I have friends that have been through worse. So this is a collection of so many life experiences compressed into one character, ‘Senzo Zulu’, a South African child that travels the world for his father’s sake just in search of happiness to be restored to his life.             This story is a journey so buckle up your seat belt, just don’t cry.         ...
